Our Story

Why another church?

Pastor Richard Ellis launched Reunion Church on October 5, 1997 in a small office in the Uptown area of Dallas, Texas. A group of 15 believers, devoted to the Lord, shared a common mission to reach the ALL of DALLAS with the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Embracing the multi-cultural and multi-ethnic diversity of the city, the church sought to be a place where anyone could come to hear about Jesus, plant roots in His truth, and learn how to live lives that bring glory to God. A CHURCH FOR DALLAS®. We still office out of that original location, but the growth of the Reunion family has moved our Sunday morning worship to an elementary school, a high school auditorium, and then in September 2001 to our current location at the Dallas Convention Center Theater, also known as The Black Academy of Arts and Letters.

Why "reunion?"

Native Dallasites know that the city used to host many of its major events at Reunion Arena. It was a major part of Dallas history and has a name with great meaning. "Reunion" means to come together, or to bring together again. The word is the same in several languages. Reunion Church is just one part of God's family, reaching out to bring others to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. We offer an ongoing family reunion for those who are willing to accept the truth of Christ and step into the loving arms of our God and Father. One life at a time; we are Disciples Making Disciples.

So what?

Reunion is just one church - one small part of the body of Christ with an awesome task before us. It is our desire to help accomplish Christ's great commission, to tell every person on the planet about Jesus Christ and what He did for them on the cross. It is for this reason that we exist, to become equipped to tell the world about our Lord.

A CHURCH. A CROSS. A WORLD.
