Pastor Richard Ellis launched Reunion Church on October 5, 1997 in a small office in the Uptown area of Dallas, Texas. A group of 15 believers, devoted to the Lord, shared a common mission to reach the ALL of Dallas with the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Embracing the multi-cultural and multi-ethnic diversity of the city, the church sought to be a place where anyone could come to hear about Jesus, plant roots in His truth, and learn how to live lives that bring glory to God.
We began in an office in uptown Dallas, but the growth of the Reunion family has moved our Sunday morning worship to an elementary school, a high school auditorium, and then in September 2001 to our current location at the Dallas Convention Center Theater, also known as The Black Academy of Arts and Letters.
Discipleship is a process by which the believer interacts with other believers and grows in relationship with God in fulfilling the call of Jesus’s Great Commission.
Although there is a discipleship element to almost all ministries, Reunion has started an initiative to produce disciples who can equip other disciples to reproduce themselves. To facilitate this process, a Mentor will take on 1-2 individuals and meet with them weekly. Reunion is using Dr. John Tolson’s book, The Four Priorities, which addresses almost every area of life and encourages all participants to recognize and fulfill their purposes as followers of Jesus Christ in every season and circumstance of life.
